Started off ok but now prints with smears of missing black text. I checked and no loose pieces etc near print head. I missed the return window as only just started using this finally, but it's not fit for purpose and I wish I hadn't wasted my money on this expensive 'top of the range' Dymo. Garbage. See photo.I bought this machine to make some labels.... bought a shed load of D1 labels, albeit most were marked as DM1 when they arrived. Genuine Dymo labels definitely work better and produce better results than the patent ones on the market.Eventually i found the software page on the Dymo website and downloaded the label printing software. It is so much easier doing it on the PC than the label machine, but you don't have to. Comes with a rechargeable battery and power adapter so very portable. Simply connect to the PC with included USB lead and you are ready to go.You can print in several colours and sizes. You can print clipart, barcodes, QR codes. (technically you can print anything but it is a single colour label printer, not a high resolution inkjet! As mentioned, you can get cheap labels for it.... some work, some partially and some not at all, but that is no fault of the printer. You can adjust margins, fonts, add borders and so on.... I leave mine plugged in on the sideboard and it displays the time on the built in colour display.Best bet is to buy some cheap labels and practice.... Much more professional than my Dymo Letratag. This is a versatile device, but there are a number of design flaws which weren't present on a £20 Dymo LetraTag.Label printing can be hit and miss. With some tapes there's a lot of streaking and I failed to get an acceptable result with a white on black label. The tapes also have an annoying habit of getting tangled around the print head when you insert them. The touch screen is OK when it works. But, when on battery power the device has two flaws:1. The device auto powers off after a fairly short interval. Powering back up takes ages while the screen starts and the software boots up.2. On startup, the device flashes up low battery warnings which have to be dismissed on the touchscreen. Yet after a couple of minuntes use, the device reports that the same battery is full.Overall, this is a great idea from Dymo, but I'd either wait for a second generation touchscreen labeller, or try and track down the previous generation top of the range labeller for a lot less moneyDas hier angebotene Gerät (QUERTY-Version) wird, was in der Produktbeschreibung leider so nicht angegeben wird, mit einem UK-Stecker (3 Stifte) ausgeliefert. Für mich somit unbrauchbar.I found this to be the best Label Manager yet. My unit is now over a year old and has proven to be the most reliable Dymo product I have owned. It is permanently on charge which displays the time when in standby (quite a nice feature if you don't have a clock around), so I can't say how long it takes to charge but I often use it away from my desk by simply unpluging the charge cable from the back of the unit and taking it where ever you want. I have had it disconnected and printed about 50 labels without any charge issues. It takes every size of Dymo label up to 24mm wide and I have found the prints to be perfect every time. The tape is quite expensive compared to the Brother tapes but at least the Dymo's print with a minimal amount of excess tape at the start and finish of each print, the Brother units print an annoyingly long amount of tape before and after which wastes time as it always needs trimming with scissors. The 500TS can be linked to a PC for direct printing (although the Outlook extension really does slow it down every time it is opened), this makes it a very flexible machine as while everything is accessible in the 500TS unit, it can be very time consuming navigating your way round the software for every unusual character, basic text or number printing is easy though. All in all I have found it to be a very good, if rather expensive unit and while I have limited experience of the top end Brother products, I really like the Dymo's - Recommended.
