I have used Turbo Tax for years and bought this edition since my wife is self-employed. The program asks so many questions, you feel like your CPA is sitting next to you. I was unable to use the email feature to send in my North Carolina tax return (don't know why) and disappointed that using the email feature would cost an extra $25.00.I used H&R Block software a year before, but felt it was not as thorough as Turbo Tax. I will buy Turbo Tax for next year.Works for me. Have used it for over 20 years. It is not perfect. Seems to screw up "Foreign Tax Credit" for me every year until I figured out how to manually force it to give full credit. Amazon is the cheapest place to get it every year and it is discounted already in December.This years version required I buy a new computer because it TurboTax no longer worked with my operating system. I complained but they blame it on Apple. Turbo Tax still works on Windows but I don’t like the idiotic Windows problems and dumb time sucking upgrades and confusing messages from Microsoft. Thanks to Amazon I was able to find the right TurboTax for my new Mac Studio Max. I think maybe I need to start over by hand to avoid all of this. No wonder the IRS won’t allow a deductible for a computer purchase to do taxes.I found some of the questions confusing and unfounded. If the IRS doesn't find fault with my return, I'll probably use again next year. (But if your income is below a certain amount you can get TurboTax free on the IRS site. )This has been a series of probems. I had filed an extension and planned to get my taxes done later in the summer when I had all the necessary information. I own a Macbook Air laptop. I wanted a disc, but TurboTax did not offer one on Amazon, so I ordered a download. At first I mistakenly ordered a download of Turvo tax for PC at a cost of more than $100. Unable to cancel the purchase, I wrote the loss off and ordered the Mac version. When I attempted to download it I receive a message that I needed to upgrade my operating system as part of the download process. I clicked the available command button, and the process destroyed my hard drive. My i-cloud account had not backed up my hard drive, having created only empty folders, and all efforts to recover the data were futile. After several weeks' effort, I replaced the hard drive and recently ordered a download TurboTax Home and Business. The program has been slow and locked up several times, but I finallyI completed my tax return and began the process of e-fling. At the stage of filling in the driver's license information, I clicked the "continue" button, but the program was and is unresponsive. I cannot go beyond that window. Ir was almost impossible to find a contact number for a TurboTax Helpdesk , only to receive a message saying to call on a normal business day. Fortunately my tax return is intact, but I cannot complete the process. I have used TurboTax for probably 15 years, but this has been a very discouraging experience.I really like this product and have used it for years but lost data due to what I believe was a down loading issue. The work around was to manually save which was no problem. However, I will always do a manual save the first time to make sure that the auto safe works from now on.I'm a long time TurboTax user, and have bought through Amazon for a number of years for the advantageous price. The software is what it is... huge and complicated and clunky, but it works, and once you're using it, you're sorta locked in.But this years, after no problems at first, I ran into a glitch when I tried to add the state return to my Federal, using my Amazon purchase. It's an Inuit problem, not Amazon, but I ended up with TurboTax unable to launch.The issue this caused is this: It turns out that if you buy your TurboTax through Amazon, then TurboTax support has instructions from Intuit not to help besides very basic support. The support guy was super apologetic, but said he just wasn't allowed to dig in about my problem, and that his screen told him I should contact Amazon support.So, I did, and again was able to get quick help from a very professional and supportive agent... except, all she could do is refund my Amazon purchase. When I then repurchased directly from Intuit, Presto!, I had full customer support and was able to resolve the crashing issue.So: Amazon gives you (almost) the same product at a great price... but be aware that customer support from Intuit will be quite limited if you run into problems. I'd rather that the two companies got on the same page, but that's our world today :-)I've been using Turbotax for over 20 years. I find it useful but the software really needs to be rewritten as it constantly lags with a spinning beachball whether on my old Mac Pro or my new super-fast Mac Mini M1. I suspect there is some seriously old legacy code in the app. Intuit needs to spend the money to product a modern product.2021 was the first time I needed to file an amended return. But I cannot file it because Turbotax's mathematical calculations are WRONG. I needed to add about $4k in additional income for the amended return but TT incorrectly increased my gross income in the amended return by $61k and says I should be getting a refund of $16k more when I should be getting less. It's really screwed up. I called Turbotax and they said it is a known bug in the software. I can't file the amended return because the IRS will punish me for reporting incorrect numbers.
